Individualised Vision Planning

One of the most important considerations in cataract surgery and intraocular lens procedures is that there is no single treatment option that is right for everyone.

The measurements we take during the examination are extremely valuable. However, measurements alone are not enough when determining a treatment plan. Two people with similar eye anatomy may have completely different daily lives, expectations and visual priorities.

For some people, reducing dependence on glasses is the main priority, while for others night vision, reading comfort or the most natural visual experience possible may be more important. Multifocal, EDOF, toric and monofocal lenses are therefore not assessed in the same way for every patient.

Treatment planning considers the individual's occupation, daily habits, screen use, driving frequency, visual expectations and current eye health together. The aim is not to recommend a particular lens, but to determine the most appropriate option for the individual.

The postoperative period is also part of this planning. Particularly with premium intraocular lenses, the brain may need time to adapt to the new visual system. Follow-up and communication with the patient are therefore as important as the surgery itself.

My approach is to assess each patient according to their individual needs and shape the decision-making process together. The aim is not only to perform a successful operation, but to achieve vision that the individual can use comfortably and with satisfaction in daily life for many years.
